WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES ABOUT OUR GIVING & GIFTS

God's Amazing Generosity

Psalm 41:1-3 God's promise to the generous

Blessed is the one who considers the poor! In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him; the Lord protects him and keeps him alive; he is called blessed in the land; you do not give him up to the will of his enemies. The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness you restore him to full health.

Malachi 3:10 Open the windows of heaven

Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.

Light of a generous spirit

Luke 6:37-38 Having a generous spirit

Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.

God's Promise To The Generous

Give and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.

- Luke 6:38 ESV

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

- 2 Corinthians 9:6

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

- Matthew 6:19-21

Blessed is the one who considers the poor! In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him; the Lord protects him and keeps him alive; he is called blessed in the land; you do not give him up to the will of his enemies. The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness you restore him to full health.

- Psalm 41:1-3

- Philippians 4:19

The Bible on Generosity and Sharing

Jesus said to him, "If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give tot he poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."

- Matthew 19:21 ESV

'For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?'

- Matthew 25:35-40

One who is taught the word must share all good things with the one who teaches.

- Galatians 6:6

You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.

- 2 Corinthians 9:11

Whoever brings blessings will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.

- Proverbs 11:25

All day long he craves and craves, but the righteous gives and does not hold back.

- Proverbs 21:26

What does the Bible say about Giving?

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

- 1 Timothy 6:17-19

Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

- Luke 12:33-34

Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.

-Proverbs 19:17

One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. Whoever brings blessings will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.

- Proverbs 11:24-25

You shall give to him freely, and your heart shall not be grudging when you give to him, because for this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake.

- Deuteronomy 15:10

The Lord's Generosity

Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.

- Malachi 3:10

Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

- Matthew 6:1-4

Whoever is generous tot he poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.

- Proverbs 19:17

Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor.

- Proverbs 22:9
